I was almost robbed this morning on my way to the Lime street station in Liverpool. It happened after I turned left to the St. Jones, just half way between Bella Italia and Boots. He jumped on me and used his hand cover my mouth, said ‘Don’t scream’. I tried very hard to escape and started running. I fell off and he tried to approach me again. He hit me several times trying to push me down and used his knees to kick me. I started running again and kept screaming ‘help! Help! Help!’ There was an old man standing at the bus stop, in front of Argos, but didn’t help me at all. I didn’t dare to stop until I reached the Lime street station. I was too terrified and didn’t know who to trust at the train station. On the train to Manchester Airport Station, I didn’t sleep cause I wasn’t sure if something bad would happen again. I couldn’t relax until I saw my sister. Then I felt safe finally. I won’t say UK is terrible because there is no place 100% safe. I do like England but now I really want to go home soon. This was my personal experience and it just happened this morning on 14th December 2010 approximately quarter to 6(5:45). No matter where are you from, I just want to warn you ‘don’t go out alone before sunrise and after midnight when there is no one on the street.’ Anything could happen. I was lucky that I didn’t lose anything and he didn’t rape me. Please tell your friend to be careful and be safe. Don’t let your life in UK ruined by this. Take care.

Question: When do you use i.e., and when do you use e.g., and what do they mean?
Answer: The Latin abbreviations "i.e." and "e.g." come up very frequently in writing and would probably come up more often if people were more sure of when it is right to use "i.e." and when "e.g." is required. To me, the only way to figure it out is to know what they stand for.
